The Dance

$1,500.00

This painting is close to my heart. It began at a 3 day painting intensive workshop at The Wayne Art Center (a wonderful facility), led by Jordan Wolfson, a remarkable teacher, mentor, painter, and friend. The workshop was titled “Abstraction, Figure as Source.” We spent the mornings drawing the figure, and the afternoons painting. The model was wonderful and made the experience that much more enjoyable.

I had taken online live courses with Jordan for over two years, one course after another, but none were in person, as he resides in Colorado. So this was a treat, to meet in person, and work with such an amazingly accomplished painter and teacher. Additionally, I worked alongside five painters who became my community for 3 days. A joyful experience!

I continued to develop the painting for months after the workshop. The title “The Dance” seemed to fit the experience. The model- her engagement and how she could bend her body, the interplay between my fellow painters, the connection to our teacher/mentor, the carefully curated music while we painted… All a wonderous Dance.
